If you read last weeks posts on the benefits of tracking your menstrual cycle, and how to break it down into the 4 seasons, I hope you have you got a better understanding of the impact your mind and body working together has on how you feel on a daily basis.
By putting that information together can you see how your mood and your energy are different during the 4 phases of your cycle. It’s impossible to have the high of summer all month long because the hormone that causes that high, oestrogen, naturally increases and depletes, and with it your mood and energy, and that is why it is impossible to be happy all the time and IT’S COMPLETELY NORMAL.
However, it is possible to achieve a balance in your mental and physical wellbeing, IF you honour the highs and lows of your hormones and look after yourself.
It’s essential that you show yourself compassion during the autumn when your inner critic shows up, and kindness during winter when your body is asking for downtime. Don’t beat yourself up because you don’t feel like having sex, saying yes to a big night out, being short-tempered or just downright bloody angry.
Stop yourself when you start comparing your mood from one day to the next, we are at the mercy of our hormones and every day is different. Embrace the highs and lows, they are happening for a reason. By working with them and not against them you can take control of “who you are” and by tracking your symptoms and journalling you can discover ‘why you are’… It really is that simple.
I’d love to hear if this information has been as life-changing for you as it was for me. Jo 🙏
